Villas in St Lucia

St Lucia is probably the most exotic and lush of all the Caribbean islands, and still unspoilt. The dramatic landscape varies from white sand beaches through banana and coconut groves to dense tropical forest and green mountains rising to 3,000 feet. Add humming birds, exotic flowers, tropical fruits and superb sea food and you are, perhaps, as near to paradise as can be found.

From Cap Estate in the north, you may travel down through the capital port of Castries to Marigot Bay, Hurricane Hole and on past banana plantations to the sulphur springs and fishing town of Soufriere. Then visit the Pitons, two volcanic peaks rising half a mile into the sky and see what is reported to be the world's only 'drive-in' volcano. It is all a veritable feast for the eye.

Water skiing, game fishing, riding, 18 hole championship golf and tennis are all available, but you may prefer to beachcomb for a few exotic shells and then relax under your favourite palm tree and just revel in being somewhere that is as totally different as St Lucia. Also on Cap is the Racquet Club with 9 tennis courts, squash court, gym, pool and a casual snack bar. At the St Lucia Hotel 10 minutes away are the usual water sports.

When to go

The high season for villas in the Caribbean runs from mid-December through mid-April, and you should book well in advance. The dry season extends from January to April, with a rainy season from May to August. Hurricane season is from early June until late November.
