Villas in the Lagos Area

A walled city with labyrinthine streets and excellent shopping, Lagos is stretched alongside an estuary and has both an important fishing fleet and modern marina for 200 yachts. It is a large market centre with splendid fish, meat, fruit and vegetables. As well as modern shopping and a big choice of excellent restaurants and discos there are galleries and a cultural centre.

Lovely beaches from Meia Praia to Praia da Luz characterise this stretch of the Algarve. The many unspoilt beaches on the West Coast are only a 40 minute drive away on the excellent road to Sagres. For the children there are new water parks and a choice of riding stables. Golf is at Palmares, Parque de Floresta and the famous Penina Golf (now 36 holes). Microlighting, windsurfing, water skiing and deep sea fishing are all available in the district and there is a hang-gliding school off the west coast, near Vila do Bispo. Tennis courts and coaching for all ages and standards are available in Praia da Luz.

Praia da Luz 8 kms west of Lagos has an excellent beach, choice of restaurants and some lovely villas. Funchal and Caliças ridges overlooking Lagos bay offer villas in large grounds, many of substantial value. 90 minutes' drive from the airport.
