In the valley of River Isla at Annesse et Beaulieu, Chateau de Siorac is 10 kms from Perigueux the capital of the Dordogne France. Built originally in 1550 and enlarged and decorated to high standards in 1847 it has a large park but more formal gardens around the house. Within an hour’s drive is Bergerac Airport but also exceptionally lovely properties formal gardens and villages. Perigueux is particularly attractive with a fine market and excellent shopping, museums, a medieval centre and Roman antiquities. Local facilities at Siorac include 2 tennis courts in the village, within a mile; an 18 hole golf course in 3 miles, and canoeing and kayakking on the rivers Isla and Dordogne. Nearby are the famous vineyards of Bordeau, Bergerac and St Emilion including Lalonde - Pomerol. The cave paintings of Lascaux show the earliest works of art we know. Included in the rental is maid service 2 days weekly, towels and bed linen of excellent standard. At extra cost is more maid service, baby sitting and cooking of one or more meals daily as required (or not). There is a good properly equipped barbecue area, a billiard room and the whole is only 26 miles from Bergerac Airport (direct low cost UK flights).
