COURCHEVEL (1650)

Ideally situated at the end of the Three Valleys, Courchevel 1650 provides access to the world’s largest ski area, without the crowds found in the central hubs. It offers a more relaxed atmosphere compared to 1850 too and has a more mountain village atmosphere.Courchevel 1650 is one of five villages that make up the resort of Courchevel. The others are Courchevel 1850, Courchevel 1550 (Courchevel Village), Le Praz and La Tania. If you are looking for an amazing ski area with a smattering of nice restaurants and bustling bars then Courchevel 1650 could be just the place.

COURCHEVEL (1850)

Situated within the Three Valleys, and in easy reaching distance from Méribel and beyond, Courchevel 1850 (or just Courchevel as it’s now known) provides access to the world’s largest ski area. Courchevel 1850 is one of five villages that make up the resort of Courchevel. The others are Courchevel 1650 (Moriond), Courchevel 1550 (Courchevel Village), Le Praz and La Tania.Courchevel is one of the premier French ski resorts, popular with holidaymakers from around the globe. Courchevel 1850 itself has become known as the playground for the rich and famous and is an amazing place for people watching and to spoil yourself. With an impressive 12 Michelin stars, it’s a firm foodies favourite. Courchevel 1850 is ideally placed with excellent links to the Three Valleys for you to get out, explore and make the most of your holiday.

VAL THORENS

With the resort at 2,300m and skiing way up to 3,230m, Val Thorens is hard to beat when it comes to great snow conditions. It’s also part of the huge Three Valleys ski area, totalling 600km of slopes that are linked by fast lifts and are highly rated for all kinds of skier.intermediates, with 22km for beginners, 30km intermediate and just 3km designated advanced. The longest of the runs is from Loischkopf to Burserberg, at 5km, it is one of the longest in the Vorarlberg. The compact town’s purpose-built, and a lot of the accommodation is ski-in, ski-out, so it couldn’t be easier to get on the slopes. And it’s backed by some pretty impressive scenery too – surrounded on three sides by dramatic mountains, with pure white peaks as far as the eye can see. You can wrap up each day with live music and dancing in slopeside or a laid-back drink in town.

VAL D’ISERE

Val d’Isère is one of the best resorts in Europe for intermediates and experts. The 300km area, shared with neighbouring Tignes, is loaded with long blues and reds, as well as waist-high bumps and off-piste where you can really test your technique. Not-so-confident skiers can stick to the greens or head over to Tignes to find some easier blues to practise on. Most of the slopes are above 2,300m, so good snow should be a given.

Its record of snowfall is exceptional. Whilst benefiting from the same Atlantic depressions as other French resorts, it often receives heavy falls of snow from the Mediterranean low pressures which dump their snow on the Italian Alps. The snow coverage tends to be one of the best in Europe and conditions normally facilitate good skiing right to the end of the season at the beginning of May.

MEGEVE

Megève is one of the most stylish ski resorts in the Alps, with a very pretty ski area. Just over an hour’s drive from Geneva airport, Megève village is both sophisticated and chic; with smart boutiques, alluring bars and restaurants in an abundance. The ski resort has plenty of old-world charm and is extremely scenic; with cobbled streets, old baroque clocktowers and cosy wooden chalets. The skiing in Megève is as scenic as the town itself. Most of the slopes are lined with beautiful and large wooded areas; perfect for snowy days or weaving between the trees. The ski area is suited mainly for beginners and intermediates and has a plethora of gentle green and wide blue slopes.

CHAMONIX

Chamonix is a vibrant town known as both a world-class ski resort and a mountaineering destination. Situated in the Haute-Savoie region of France, it is bordered by Switzerland and Italy and dominated by the incredible Aiguilles de Chamonix Mountain chain peaking at the top of Mont Blanc (4810m).With these vast, jagged mountains towering over the town, the scenery here is arguably the most spectacular in the French Alps. The snow-capped peaks soar into the bright blue sky, ancient glaciers sweep down towards the valley floor and waterfalls cascade through pine-covered hillsides. The natural beauty of this valley is the main draw for those who love the outdoors whether skiers, mountaineers, hikers or sightseers. There is a real international feel here, not just from tourists but from individuals and families who have decided to settle here from all over the world.
