L'Adret du Ribas is a beautiful house perched on a steep hillside near the village of Cabris, where the Alpes Maritimes flatten out to the plain of the Cote D'Azur with spectacular views of the whole coast from St Jean Cap Ferrat and Cap d'Antibes right across Cannes to the Esterel mountains to the West. It is just a 30 minute drive from Cannes and the sea, and a 20 minute walk (or 5 minute drive) to Cabris, an unspoilt hilltop village that dates back to the 13th Century and has a nice bread shop and 5 good restaurants. The road to Cabris is a popular walk among locals and a designated area of natural beauty. Other villages are also within easy distance and each has a market on a different day of the week.
Interiors are furnished in excellent taste and equipped to American standards of comfort. Accommodation is split between the main villa and a separate guest house about 30m away sleeping 2 with its own kitchen and living room. The large 15m pool has a jetstream in the deep end and a heat pump. Not suitable for children under 10. Utilities and linen included. Satellite TV, with flat screen LCD/Plasma sets. High speed wireless internet.
Accommodation is in the main house and guest house, separated by a path about 30m (100ft) long. The main villa sleeps 4 in the master double and twin room, both en suite, and there is a superior sofabed in the living room.
Main villa:
The comfortable living room is 40 ft long and amply supplied with books, records, tapes, CDs, DVDs a stereo with compact disc, tape and record player, as well as a remote controlled Sky satellite system connected to the large screen plasma TV, the multi region DVD and VCR. The house is wired with a High Speed/WIFI-Wireless Internet connection and there is an extensive collection of local maps and regional information.
The separate formal dining room sits 6 comfortably with a maximum of 8 and has its own fireplace. It offers sweeping views towards Cannes and across to the Esterel mountains.
The terrace is large and has two sets of tables and chairs with large umbrellas and chaises for outdoor dining and lounging. Built in charcoal grill.
The kitchen is state-of-the-art with custom-made oak cabinets, a GE side-by-side fridge-freezer with ice machine, gas oven, Miele microwave and dishwasher, gas hobs with griddle, and beautiful views over Cabris over the almond and olive trees.
The master bedroom suite has its own sitting area with writing desk and fax machine, queen size bed, large fireplace, separate dressing room and large en suite bathroom. Both the bedroom and the bathroom open to sensational views of the valley and Mediterranean through five full-height French windows. The bathroom has separate tiled shower, sunken double bathtub and twin washbasins. The bedroom has a flat LCD TV connected to the Sky satellite system.
The second bedroom on the lower level has two extra-length single beds, walk-in cupboard, fireplace and en suite bathroom. It has its own terrace with teak furniture. It can access the master bedroom through a French window off the master bathroom or can be accessed independently by a path and stone steps from the French door in the kitchen on the upper level. There is a flat screen LCD TV connected to the Sky system.
Guest house:
The Guest House may be accessed either along the garden path from the Villa or through the garden gates leading from the separate driveway and parking area. It is a large conically shaped room with cathedral ceiling supported by massive antique wooden beams. Four large French windows open onto the gardens and swimming pool.
There is also a dining area with an antique Italian marble dining table that seats 6; raised fireplace; fully equipped kitchen; a stereo with a tape player, CD, DVD and TV connected by remote control to the satellite system. A separate single daybed can accommodate an additional short-term guest.
The separate, walk-in dressing area and spacious bathroom with large tiled shower both adjoin the main room of the Guest House.
The fully equipped, gourmet kitchen also has top of the line General Electric appliances including a side-by-side, frost-free refrigerator with both ice service and refreshment service through the doors and double self-cleaning electric ovens. There is a triple component Jenn-Air electric range cook top with convertible grill and griddle and a three compartment stainless-steel sink with waste disposal and dishwasher.
Outside:
The large pool is heated by a modern electronic heat pump system and maintained at a constant 25ºC. It is 45 feet long and 15 feet wide and ranges in depth from 3 feet to 9 feet. A Jet Stream located in the deep end provides a strong, pulsing swimming current for additional exercise. In the garden area around the pool, there is a large, round, stone table with an umbrella for alfresco dining and lounge chairs. Under the pergola is a hammock with an additional table and chairs and there is a built-in barbecue.
